Physics

Studying physics concepts and understanding the world around us becomes much clearer when paired with hands-on activities that actively engage learners.

With this in mind, the ARC hosts a collection of physics teaching-learning materials designed and created by Mr. Tomy Elanjikuzhy from Kerala. The short videos below briefly demonstrate the concepts these materials illustrate, along with the activities that can be conducted using them.

We hope you enjoy exploring these resources. For more information, please feel free to reach out to the ARC team.

Below are individual videos for the topics:

Bernouli’s Principle

Demonstrates how air pressure and velocity are related, using simple materials to show lift and movement.

Centrifugal Force

Explains the outward force felt during circular motion through a hands-on activity.

Concave lens

Shows how a concave lens bends light rays and forms images.

Conductivity

Illustrates how different materials conduct electricity using simple setups.

Conservation of Momentum

Demonstrates how momentum is transferred and conserved in collisions.

Conversion of Energy

Shows how one form of energy changes into another through practical examples.

Convex lens

Explains how convex lenses bend light and focus it to form images.

Day and night

A simple model to explain Earth’s rotation and the cycle of day and night.

Electric Bulb Magnet

Demonstrates electromagnetism using a bulb and coil setup.

Floating Rings

Explains magnetic repulsion and levitation with ring magnets.

Funtioning of the See-Saw

Shows how balance and forces work on a lever system.

Gears

Demonstrates how gears work together to transfer motion and change speed or direction.

Inclined plane

Explains how an inclined plane makes lifting easier by reducing effort.

Levers

Demonstrates the principle of levers and how effort and load are balanced.

Light through transparent and translucent material

Shows how light behaves when it passes through different types of materials.

Light Traveling through different Materials

Demonstrates how materials affect the speed and direction of light.

Light Travels Through Straight line

A simple demonstration of the rectilinear propagation of light.

Moon also has Day and Night

Explains how the Moon also experiences day and night due to rotation.

Multiple Pulleys

Explains how multiple pulleys reduces weight to be lifted over single pulley.

Musical Rods

Shows how vibrations in rods produce sound of different pitches.

Occupation of Space by Air

Demonstrates that air takes up space, even though it’s invisible.

Oscillation

Explains periodic motion through simple oscillating systems.

Pressure and Waterflow

Demonstrates the effect of pressure on the speed and direction of water flow.

Resonance

Shows how objects vibrate in response to matching frequencies.

Static Inertia or Inertia At Rest

Demonstrates how objects resist change when at rest.

Thermal Expansion in Air

Explains how air expands when heated.

Thermal Expansion in Solids

Demonstrates how solids expand with heat.

Water Maintains its Level

Shows how water always seeks and maintains the same level.

Water sprinkler using centrifugal force and Bernouli’s principle

A practical demonstration combining centrifugal force and Bernoulli’s principle to explain how sprinklers work.
