Curious Minds 2025 – A Festival of Inclusion and Discovery

November 10, 2025

The Curious Minds 2025 event, organised by Vividha Trust in collaboration with Vision Empower, Inclusion Movement, Artefact, and the Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), was held on November 8th and 9th at VITM, Bengaluru. The event brought together more than 150 visually impaired (VI) students, teachers, and facilitators from across different states, creating a vibrant platform for inclusive Science and Mathematics learning.

The program commenced with a brief inauguration that introduced the objectives of Curious Minds and outlined the broader vision of promoting equitable access to STEM education for learners with visual impairments.

The first day included the Prayogalaya session for teachers, where educators engaged with tactile Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) created by Vividha Trust and Vision Empower. These resources, ranging from tactile science models to manipulatives and interactive games were designed to support primary to high school STEM concepts through hands-on exploration.

A dedicated session by Dr. Robinson provided further insight into pedagogical strategies for teaching Mathematics to VI learners, emphasising adaptability, patience, and empathetic facilitation. Teachers also contributed by sharing classroom experiences, challenges, and successful practices, strengthening a community of mutual learning.

During this time, students participated in two parallel learning pathways. One group at VITM attended a theatre-based workshop by Artefact, followed by an experiential science session using museum exhibits adapted for tactile and auditory engagement. The second group visited the Museum of Art & Photography (MAP) for an accessible tour and an interactive sensory-based art workshop.

The second day highlighted student-led demonstrations, with more than 40 science and mathematics activities showcased by visually impaired students. Through experiments on concepts such as heat, pressure, force, sound, measurement, light, and chemical reactions, students presented with clarity and confidence, reflecting their deep understanding of the subjects.

The event also hosted exhibits from organisations developing assistive technologies, accessible STEM models, and educational aids for visually impaired learners. These exhibits underscored the growing ecosystem dedicated to fostering inclusive STEM opportunities in India.

The exhibition welcomed numerous visitors, including students with and without disabilities, parents, educators, families, and well-wishers. The enthusiastic interactions and appreciation from visitors highlighted the impact and relevance of accessible STEM initiatives.

Participants, teachers, and organizers gather during the Curious Minds 2025 event, celebrating two days of inclusive STEM learning, tactile exploration, theatre activities, and student-led science and math demonstrations.
