Vision Empower conducted a meaningful two-day outreach program in Arunachal Pradesh, strengthening efforts in inclusive education, digital learning, and assistive technology integration for teachers and students with visual impairments. The visit was organised in close collaboration with the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal Affairs (SJETA) and marked an important step toward building inclusive learning ecosystems in the state.
Day 1 – Pragya Teacher Training at Donyi-Polo Mission School
Day one focused on equipping teachers with accessible STEM pedagogy and digital learning tools. Educators participated in interactive sessions introducing Vision Empower’s mission and digital platforms, particularly Subodha LMS, which hosts accessible courses in Mathematics, Science, Computational Thinking, and Digital Literacy.
The team facilitated hands-on, joyful learning activities such as “Turmeric as an Indicator” and “Introduction to Symmetry,” showcasing how experiential teaching methods can be adapted for students with visual impairments. Teachers also explored assistive devices including IRIS, Hexis, and the Antara platforms, along with an accessible session on Cyber Security using screen-reader-friendly YouTube tutorials.
A key highlight of the day was the presentation of Vision Empower’s initiatives to Shri Abu Tayeng, Secretary, SJETA, and his team, a discussion coordinated by Shri Pura Aiya, Special Educator Coordinator. These conversations opened avenues for deeper collaboration across the state.
Day 2 – Inclusion in Action at Ane’s Home, Itanagar
On the second day, the Vision Empower team visited Ane’s Home, a victim support center run by the Itanagar Capital Police. The interaction focused on empowering students and educators through accessible learning demonstrations. Participants engaged with tactile materials and assistive tools such as Hexis and IRIS, experiencing firsthand how technology can transform learning for students with visual impairments.
Following the visit, the team met Shri Tadar Aman, State Project Coordinator (Inclusive Education), Samagra Shiksha, to discuss ongoing initiatives and explore pathways to expand inclusive education across the region.
This visit reaffirmed Vision Empower’s commitment to partnering with government bodies, educators, and communities to build a future where every learner has equal access to quality education.
