Vision Empower has been working towards designing classrooms where children with visual impairments can experience learning in an engaging and accessible way. Recent sessions at Calcutta Blind School stand as strong examples of how inclusive pedagogies can make classroom learning both effective and joyful.

On July 22, students of Class 6 explored the Parts of a Plant through real specimens which are feeling roots, stems, buds, flowers, leaves, and seeds. Alongside, tactile diagrams from the RLF book supported their exploration, while descriptions of each plant part were accessed through HEXIS, a refreshable braille reader. This multi-sensory combination helped students build a stronger conceptual understanding.

In another session on the Human Skeletal System, students engaged with real skeletal specimens, tactile diagrams from the RLF book, and audio descriptions provided through IRIS, making the learning process both accessible and memorable.

These classroom experiences demonstrate how Vision Empower’s design of inclusive pedagogies brings together tactile, auditory, and experiential methods. By integrating real-world exploration with accessible technology, Vision Empower is helping create classrooms where all children can learn with confidence, curiosity, and joy ensuring an inclusive learning experience.
