In May 2026, Vision Empower marked an important programme milestone by conducting its first Pragya Teacher Training in Assam. The two-day programme was hosted at Guwahati Blind High School and Montfort School in Guwahati.
Through hands-on activities and practical demonstrations, 26 teachers from special and inclusive schools explored accessible approaches to teaching science and mathematics to students with visual impairments. Participants were also introduced to accessible learning resources, Computational Thinking games, play-based pedagogy and assistive technologies such as Hexis and IRIS.
The sessions encouraged teachers to consider how accessible teaching methods, learning resources and technologies could be integrated into their everyday classroom practices.
Following the training, Montfort School expressed interest in an awareness session on STEM education and career opportunities for students with visual impairments, along with their parents and caregivers. The programme has created a strong foundation for continued collaboration with schools and educators across Assam.
