Pragya Teacher Training at Alagappa University

Vision Empower, in collaboration with Alagappa University and with approval from the Government of Tamil Nadu Commissionerate for Welfare of the Differently Abled, conducted a two-day Pragya Teacher Training Program for special school teachers of the blind. The program aimed to enhance inclusive and accessible STEM education practices.

The event was inaugurated by Prof. G. Ravi (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Sujatha Malini (HOD, DSERS), Dr. Gunasekaran (Assistant Professor, DSERS), Vidhya Y (Co-founder, Vision Empower), and the VE Tamil Nadu team.

Day 1 included sessions on digital literacy using AI tools, engaging Computational Thinking (CT) activities, an introduction to the Hexis platform, and a co-learning session where teachers exchanged inclusive teaching strategies.

Day 2 focused on accessible science and math lessons based on the Tamil Nadu curriculum. Teachers explored the IRIS device for tactile STEM learning, shared best practices, and participated in a session on assistive tools by Dr. Sujatha Malini. The day ended with hands-on exploration of adaptive physics models and a visit to the Assistive Technology Lab.

The training concluded with the distribution of certificates, marking a significant step toward achieving equitable and inclusive STEM education for all.
