A 2-day teacher training program for Karnataka special school teachers for the blind with approval from DWDSC was held at IIIT B on 4th and 5th August 2025, bringing together 29 passionate teachers from 20 schools, including 23 visually impaired educators.
Day 1:
Day 1 began with an inspiring tour of the Accessible Resource Centre at IIITB set up by Vision Empower, with support from Bosch. The sessions that followed were engaging and hands-on:
- Digital Literacy using AI-powered apps for the visually impaired by Co-Founder Vidhya Y
- Playful Computational Thinking (CT) games
- Exciting science activities to explore the concept of light
- Interactive demo of the Accessible Geometry Kit for tactile learning
Day 2:
Day 2 continued the spirit of collaboration and creativity:
- An interactive and fun session by Dr. Manohar from MSR on Ludic design for accessibility(LDA) in Science and Math, where teachers connected their childhood games to teaching concepts
- Introduction to RLF books integrated with the IRIS device, enabling tactile diagram comprehension
- Mobility session for visually impaired teachers by NAB,Bangalore
- The program concluded with participant feedback and certificate distribution
Two days filled with learning, sharing, and inspiring each other — strengthening the skills and confidence of educators who light the path for inclusive STEM learning!
