Pragya Teacher Training Workshop in Gorakhpur

Vision Empower, under the AI Innovation and Inclusion Initiative (A4I) Project in collaboration with Microsoft Elevate and International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore, conducted a two-day Pragya Teacher Training Workshop in Gorakhpur.

The experiential workshop focused on making STEM education accessible to learners with visual impairments through play-based learning, digital literacy, accessible STEM resources, and assistive technologies, including Hexis, Iris, and the Subodha Learning Management System.

The program highlighted the importance of equipping educators with skills relevant to the AI era while ensuring visually impaired students are not left behind in STEM and innovation-led learning.

The workshop was attended by 50 special educators, key institutions, and disability sector leaders from the Sparsh School for the Blind (Boys & Girls), Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Gorakhpur, and the Government of India’s integrated school education programme ‘Samagra Shiksha’.

Delegates included – Gopal Krishna Agarwal (Honorary Secretary, NAB India), Vandana Baranwal (Program Officer, NAB India), Kamlesh Kumar Verma (District Disability Empowerment Officer, Gorakhpur), Jitender Yadav (Director, CRC Gorakhpur), Jawahar Lal (Principal, Sparsh Govt Blind Girls Inter College), Laxmi Shanker Jaiswal (Principal, Sparsh Govt Blind Boys Inter College) and Vivek Jaiswal (District Coordinator, Samagra Shiksha) attended the workshop.

Mathematics and science education are largely based on visualization. Skilled professionals are required to impart logical and conceptual learning to visually impaired students.
