Transforming Classrooms with Inclusive STEM Learning

September 15, 2025

Across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal, special-school classrooms are undergoing a remarkable transformation—moving away from passive lessons to hands-on STEM learning that children can touch, build, and truly understand.

Since 2022, our technology-enabled inclusive education programme has reached 43 schools, positively impacting the lives of more than 2,100 students with visual impairment. Through this initiative, classrooms are no longer just spaces of instruction, but vibrant environments where students actively engage in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

With the generous support of the Cognizant Foundation, the program is helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, while teachers are being equipped with innovative inclusive methods. These approaches ensure that every child—regardless of ability—has the opportunity to learn, explore, and thrive.

The program brings fun, hands-on STEM learning to over 2,100 visually impaired students across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and West Bengal. With support from teachers and special schools, every child gets the chance to explore, create, and dream through inclusive education

A highlight of this journey is the growing confidence among teachers, who are embracing new strategies to make learning meaningful and accessible. For students, the shift to tactile, interactive lessons is opening doors to discovery and igniting curiosity in ways that traditional teaching could not.

As Cognizant Foundation celebrates 20 years, we are proud to stand alongside them in advancing this mission of inclusion and possibility. Together, we are shaping a future where every learner is empowered to participate fully and joyfully in education.
