A Day of Discovery: Young Explorers Dive into the Animal Kingdom at Anubhav Camp

On the radiant Tuesday morning of 5th December, the air buzzed with excitement as 19 children from Kerala School for the Blind, Mankada gathered for a unique adventure- a one-day science camp hosted by Vision Empower on animals. The science camp commenced with a walk through nature with children listening intently to the sounds of nature, from bird calls to the rhythmic sounds of animal movements. The sessions aimed to connect them with the vibrant life around them, enhancing their understanding of the animal world through sound. Throughout the day, the children immersed themselves in a variety of hands-on activities. From knowing the common animals to exploring insects and animal models and experiencing various habitats, each activity was designed to ignite curiosity and a deeper understanding of the animal kingdom. There were guided touch tours where the VE facilitator led children through interactive exhibits. By touching models and textured displays, children explored the textures, shapes, and unique features of various animals.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the live animal encounters. From chirping birds to running behind hens, the children had the opportunity to touch, observe, and learn about various creatures in a controlled and educational setting. Children also got an opportunity to experience the pond on school premises by entering into water and exploring water lilies, fishes and frogs. A miniature model of the mountains and waterfall provided an atmosphere for children to play and learn. These up-close encounters provided a unique and memorable experience, fostering a connection between the children and the fascinating world of animals.

The children, with wide-eyed enthusiasm, posed thoughtful questions, showcasing their genuine interest in the world of science. There was also a quiz session for the young participants to reinforce the knowledge gained from the camp.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Science camp concluded with smiles of satisfaction on the faces of the young explorers.
