“ I thought we were playing, but now I realise that we learned many new things.” – Barsha rani Nayak, Student.

VE in collaboration with the Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department, Government of Odisha, conducted a two-day Anubhav Experiential STEM learning event for students with Visual Impairments, on the 24th & 26th of July at the IIC Center, Jatni. The event was supported by the SBI Foundation.

A vibrant group of 43 students from 2 special schools were part of the two-day event, who participated enthusiastically in the various activities conducted by us which included, science experiments, computational thinking games, and math activities, all specifically designed to be accessible and inclusive. Through specially designed games the students learnt concepts of science and math in a way that were imprinted in their minds forever.

“ We learned these concepts before in our previous classes, but after doing these activities I’ll never forget it again.” – Babu, Student.

Apart from games, we featured interactive sessions like quiz competitions based on audiobooks and Subodha content and also conducted story-reading sessions using Hexis, a refreshable braille reader, which were thoroughly enjoyed by the students experiencing it for the first time. The event was a huge success and the experiences and learnings from the session will be imprinted in the student’s minds forever, for yet another time.
