Empowering Future Educators: Pragya Teacher Training at Calicut University

On September 11, 2025, Vision Empower conducted a Pragya Teacher Training workshop on “Inclusive Classrooms – Supporting Visually Impaired Learners” at the Calicut University Teacher Education Center, Koduvayur, Palakkad. The session engaged 49 B.Ed students, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to create truly inclusive learning spaces.

The workshop began with an introduction to Vision Empower’s mission, encouraging participants to reflect on the real-world challenges faced by learners with visual impairment. Through interactive discussions and demonstrations, student teachers explored inclusive teaching strategies and innovative learning resources.

Key highlights included hands-on sessions with assistive technologies such as screen readers and braille displays, along with an introduction to VE’s LMS – Subodha, the Hexis refreshable braille display devicecomputational thinking games, and STEM learning materials designed for accessibility.

By the end of the day, participants left inspired and empowered to make their future classrooms more inclusive—ensuring that every learner, regardless of ability, has the opportunity to thrive.
