Inside the world of Assistive Technologies, a session by VE

Vision Empower was invited to conduct a session on assistive technologies as part of the four-day teacher training conducted by the  Mathruchhaya- Canara Bank Relief & Welfare Society. The two-hour session conducted on the 7th of July 2023 was led by VE’s co-founder Vidhya Y along with VE team members Rajeswari, Venkatesh and Kartik. 

The teachers, both with visual impairments and sighted, were given knowledge about the various technologies used for reading, navigation and object identification. Vidhya Y explained the use of several apps, like Be My Eyes, Envision AI, Voice Dream Reader, etc., that can be used for everyday accessibility needs. She also highlighted the importance of assistive devices like Hexis Braille Reader and Alexa that can be used hassle-free on the go. 

The teachers were excited to put their learnings into practice by starting to incorporate assistive technologies and devices in their everyday lives.
