National Workshop on User Interface and User Experience

On May 28th, 2024, Vision Empower (VE) participated in the National Workshop on User Interface and User Experience for Government, hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in New Delhi. The event featured exhibitors like Oracle, Samsung, MapmyIndia, and SBI, alongside Microsoft, with each showcasing solutions in accessibility and user experience.
At the event, VE demonstrated the Subodha Accessible LMS, highlighting its accessibility features. VE representatives explained the importance of thorough testing with screen readers, ensuring that applications are accessible to individuals with visual impairments and other sight-related disabilities such as low vision and colour blindness.
During the event, officials from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), MeitY, National Information Centre (NIC), and other central government ministries engaged with VE to understand the application’s accessibility solutions. VE was supported by ManPrax, the technology partner who developed the Subodha application. The team discussed the detailed attention required during accessibility testing, which combines human-led and automated machine testing to ensure thorough accessibility.
Varsha Joshi, IAS, expressed interest in VE’s initiatives and praised the efforts to make STEM education accessible for children with visual impairments. The event provided VE with a valuable platform to interact with key stakeholders from government, academia, and industry, all committed to enhancing the accessibility and user experience of applications and systems to promote inclusivity.”
