Project VICT – Computational Thinking For Persons With Visual Impairment Wins The Jury Commendation Certificate In The 19th FICCI Corporate Social Responsibility Award.

On 24th November 2021, Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. won the jury commendation certificate in the 19th Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry or FICCI Corporate Social Responsibility Award under the category of ‘Inclusive Development of PwDs’ for Project VICT implemented by IIITB and Vision Empower. The prestigious FICCI CSR Award recognizes outstanding CSR contribution of Indian corporates. Over the years, a number of companies, both public and private, have been recognized for their innovative programmes. Padma Bhushan Mrs Rajashree Birla, Chairperson FICCI CSR & Community Development Committee was present as the chief guest during the award ceremony, attended by more than 220 corporate invitees. Of the 110 nominations in Stage 1, 75 made it to Stage 2 of which 36 corporates qualified for the Eminent Jury Round.

This award was given for Category 4: ‘Inclusive Development of PwDs’. Vision Empower is the implementation partner for Project VICT or Computational Thinking for persons with Visual Impairment, which aims to make the ACM Computational Thinking Curriculum from CSPathshala.

As Microsoft received the award, Mr Sriram Rajamani, the Managing Director of Microsoft Research India Labs India shared about the VICT project while thanking the FICCI CSR Awards for recognising that the project aimed to make numeracy and computational thinking education fun and accessible for children with visual impairment.
