SEEDS (Scalable Educational Experiences with Digital Scaffolding) Summer Camp 2026

June 25, 2026

Have you ever wondered how we keep learners engaged when they are away from school, far from classrooms, teachers, and learning resources?

For many children with visual impairment, summer often means a break from learning. For students studying in residential schools for the blind, going back home during vacations often means returning to remote villages where access to smartphones, digital content, and accessible learning resources is very limited. Learning slowly gets disconnected during this time.

But this time, something felt different.

The SEEDS (Scalable Educational Experiences with Digital Scaffolding) Summer Camp, an initiative by Vision Empower, under the AI Innovation and Inclusion Initiative (A4I) project in collaboration with Microsoft Elevate and the International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore, with inputs from Microsoft Research, created a way for learning to continue even beyond school walls and across distances.

Through voice-first learning using IVR conferencing, students stayed connected with their teachers and peers through audio-based live sessions, storytelling, and group discussions. At-home observation activities also brought parents into the learning journey, making it more shared and meaningful.

Video description: This video showcases photographs and experiences from learners during SEEDS Summer Camp 2026, highlighting their nature exploration, participation in activities, and continued learning over the summer break. It features images shared from learners’ homes, including leaves and everyday objects they observed. The video also includes a student testimonial in Tamil, sharing how much he enjoyed the stories he heard, especially the story of a dragonfly discovering different leaves, and the experiences he gained from the summer camp.

What stood out most was the continuity of connection – between teachers and learners, nature and children, and learning and real-world experiences.

Could there be a better way to spend the vacation?

Student Testimonial

“My name is G. Surya. I am in 8th standard, Section B. I have attended all the SEEDS sessions.

I loved all the stories we heard. I really enjoyed the story where a dragonfly sees many different kinds of leaves.
We also collected different kinds of leaves, pieces of cloth, and other materials. It felt like a new experience through SEEDS, exploring different kinds of leaves and objects.

It gave us a lot of excitement learning about the diverse flora and fauna. We also went ahead and described the animals.

I would love to participate in such a program again.”
