Tamil Nadu Pragya Teacher Training
Vision Empower recently conducted a three-day Teacher Training Program in collaboration with the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) in Chennai, India from 22nd to 24th August 2023. The program aimed to empower educators in enhancing their teaching skills, particularly in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), for students with visual impairment.
The training saw active participation from 24 dedicated teachers representing 14 schools across Tamil Nadu with a clear set of objectives: To take STEM teaching forward and help teachers to explore integrating multiple subjects in teaching-learning To orient teachers about Computational thinking and developing CT skills through Games and activities
To introduce teachers to approaches of teaching children at different levels
To empower teachers towards greater participation in their own development
To introduce the possibilities of digital tools for teaching-learning
To introduce teachers to a method of continuous professional development
Day 1 commenced with an inspiring inauguration and welcome address. It progressed to introduce teachers to the workshop’s agenda and inclusive pedagogies. Day 2 delved into designing inclusive lessons, computational thinking, and immersive game sessions. Day 3 concluded with lesson sharing, digital applications exploration, discussions on continuous professional development, reflections, and certificate distribution. Experienced faculty members from Vision Empower and resource persons were on hand to facilitate the training.
The training empowered the educators with a newfound zeal and the skills to create a more inclusive learning environment in their classrooms.
