The Internet Governance and Leadership Program for Persons with Disabilities

The Internet Governance and Leadership Program for Persons with Disabilities, organized by the ISOC Accessibility Standing Group and Bhartiyatech Innovative Solutions and Research in collaboration with Vision Empower, was held on April 8–10, 2025, at NDMC Convention Hall. The event brought together individuals with disabilities from across India to foster digital leadership and advocacy skills.

Ms. Vidhya Y, Co-founder of Vision Empower, hosted the workshop. Day 1 began with an icebreaker and participants sharing their accessibility goals. Dr. Govind, Vice Chair APSIG, provided a comprehensive introduction to Internet governance. Ms. Gunela Astbrink (IGF MAG) joined virtually to discuss global accessibility organizations. Post-lunch, Ms. Amrita Choudhary (IGF MAG, ICANN) led a session on proposal writing, followed by a privacy-focused talk by educator Ms. Chandni Aggarwal.

Day 2 featured Mr. Dipendra Manocha, Founder and Honorary Managing Trustee of Saksham, who spoke on national and international frameworks. Ms. Vidhya Y led a session on effective storytelling, including how to craft a compelling elevator pitch. Mr. Amar Jain, Co-founder of Mission Accessibility, shared powerful advocacy stories and strategies. Dr. Ashutosh Pathak and Mr. Mayank joined virtually to enrich the discussion. Mr. Satish Babu (ISOC Delhi) guided participants on engaging with Internet governance platforms. Attendees created personal advocacy action plans.

On Day 3, certificates were awarded by the Secretary, Department of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, who also shared inspiring experiences. Sessions on digital accessibility highlighted global advancements, with NCERT presenting their inclusive education initiatives. The event concluded with a group photo capturing the spirit of unity and collaboration. In a heartfelt feedback session, participants expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity, reflected on their learnings, and shared their personal growth—leaving everyone inspired and more connected than ever.
