Vision Empower in collaboration with Rahmaniya School for Handicapped hosted a one-day pre-Braille skill development workshop on 4th January 2023 as part of observing the World Braille Day. The workshop brought together parents, teachers, and children for a hands-on experience in crafting pre-Braille kits.

Pre-Braille Skill Development Workshop

The workshop aimed to bridge gaps in education by empowering participants to create tactile learning materials crucial for the development pre- Braille skills of visually impaired children. The event, held in the school’s inclusive environment witnessed a remarkable synergy of expertise and enthusiasm with the participation of around 8 parents, 9 teachers and 16 children.

Key Highlights:

Hands-On Kit Making: Teachers, parents and children engaged in practical sessions, crafting a set of five pre-Braille kits under the guidance of VE facilitators. Tactile materials created during the workshop are designed to enhance the learning experience for visually impaired students. The pre-Braille kit consisted of 20 teaching-learning materials including 9 materials which were made during the workshop.

 Parents and teachers collaborated to better understand the needs of visually impaired children, fostering a supportive community dedicated to their educational well-being.

The workshop also included a training session using materials in pre- Braille kit for teachers and parents which provided valuable insights and practical skills. The training focused on sensory, cognitive and fine motor skills for children and ensuring the participation of parents and teachers in actively contributing to the educational journey of visually impaired learners.
