Vision Empower observes World White Cane Day 2024

October 14, 2025

On October 14, Vision Empower conducted an awareness program on World White Cane Day and World Sight Day at ETC, Navi Mumbai. The session aimed to build empathy and understanding among parents of students with multiple disabilities while emphasizing the importance of eye care and preventive measures.

During the interactive session, parents were blindfolded and guided to walk using the white cane, allowing them to personally experience the challenges faced by individuals with visual impairment. They were also introduced to ‘Sighted Guide Techniques’ and the concept of walking along the “Sure Wall” for safer navigation.

Beyond demonstrations, the program focused on eye health awareness, encouraging parents to schedule regular eye check-ups and reduce screen exposure to maintain better vision.

The event saw active participation from 97 parents, who expressed appreciation for the informative and experiential nature of the session. The initiative successfully combined awareness, empathy, and practical learning—reinforcing Vision Empower’s mission of fostering inclusion and accessibility.
