Vision Empower’s Hexis Pilot Program
Vision Empower (VE) recently launched its Hexis Pilot Program, a series of sessions to assess the children’s proficiency in using Hexis, Vembi Technologies and VE’s electronic refreshable braille reader.
The program commenced on December 14th 2023 in Karnataka with 31 students with visual impairment as they navigated through Hexis to read braille content on the device. On January 13th, 2024, the same activity was conducted with 26 students in West Bengal. At Saksham School in Noida, 30 students worked with Hexis devices in English and Hindi on the 16th and 17th of January. By having students read on Hexis, the VE team analysed the braille reading speed and accuracy of the students.
The teachers weren’t left out. They got a walkthrough on how to use the Antara platform to upload the reading material so the students could access it through Hexis, ensuring they could use it hassle-free.
The Hexis Pilot Program is gradually making its way through schools across various states. By figuring out each child’s reading level, the VE team will focus on creating programs to bridgethe braille reading gaps.
